국토정책연구실(STAR Lab)은 2020년 서울시립대학교 도시행정학과에 설립되었습니다. 도시계획학에서 출발해 통계학, 컴퓨터과학, 경제지리학, 보건학 등을 아우르며, 국토와 도시의 문제를 공간 데이터로 분석하고 그 결과를 정책 대안으로 연결합니다. 연구 분야는 국토도시정책, 도시데이터사이언스, 데이터과학기반행정, 토지주택부동산이며, 국토와 도시를 하나의 공간 데이터 체계 안에서 함께 다룹니다.

STAR Lab was established in 2020 in the Department of Urban Administration at the University of Seoul. Starting from urban planning and drawing on fields such as statistics, computer science, economic geography and public health, the lab analyses territorial and urban problems with spatial data and connects the findings to policy. Its research areas are territorial and urban policy, urban data science, data-driven public administration, and land, housing and real estate, treated within a single spatial data framework.

연구실에는 도시행정학, 도시계획학, 경제학, 통계학, 컴퓨터공학을 공부한 연구원들이 모여 있습니다. 국토연구원, 경기연구원, 지방의회 및 공공기관 등에서 일하며 학위를 밟는 이들도 있어 연구 주제의 상당수가 현장의 문제에서 출발합니다. 인구와 재정, 주택과 건강, 교통과 환경 자료 등을 공간 단위로 재구성해 지역 사이의 차이를 분석하고, 그 결과를 논문과 연구과제로 정책 현장에 전달합니다.

Researchers in the lab come from urban administration, urban planning, economics, statistics and computer engineering. Some pursue their degrees while working at institutions such as KRIHS, the Gyeonggi Research Institute, local councils and other public agencies, so many research questions begin in practice. Data on population, public finance, housing, health, mobility and the environment are reorganised into spatial units to analyse differences between regions, and the findings reach practice through articles and research projects.
